Hop Typeface
The Hop variable font is a tribute to the Impact font (designed by Geoffrey Lee in 1965 and published by Stephenson Blake — UK). The most knowed font-in-use of Impact for me is the title of Blade Runner (Ridley Scott, 1982).
To bring something different on the same font genre contemporary or not, we worked on some calligraphic features in details, like the R + the connections between bowls and stems + the attack of ascendants and vertical stems. We, also, made a Rounded and conforatble companion!
Working on different weights has bring also something cool specially in the rounded or semi-rounded version because the calligraphic features are still visible in the lighter weights and until we hit the 80 unit of the custom slider.
Hop Standard Regular where you can see the calligraphics features — The bottom left stroke of the R and its connection to the bowl, the connections between vertical stems and attack of the bowls.
Hop typeface is an ‘Impact’ inspired font style. Two families are available: Hop Standard for a strong and straight letterforms. Hop Rounded for a polished and sweet sensations. All offering a large range of weights and ± polished corner if playing with the Custom ‘cstm’ axis.
Hop alternates forms
A bunch of letters can be suddenly raised to the extra top, they are hidden on the Alt Hop ss04 (Stylistics set 4 from the OpenType software window).
The a (ss01, ss02) has 2 altenatives, one for the the t (ss03) and one for the & (ss06). Then a Slim set (ss05) containing slim punctuations and accents for a big contrast in bolder weight.
The Hop Families
Aside the variable-font, in a static way 14 styles has been pre-defined order to 2 families
